love, love, love

Happy people filled the old ice cellar, Kjeller5, as the first Pecha Kucha Night Tromsø ever took place. Beautiful, creative presentors gave their best, music and ambiance was added by the mighty mega benoni, beer war supplied by Mack and Ølhallen and the crowd added a lot of positivity and enthusiasm to it - a success we believe!
This was made possible by a wonderful collaboration with the tank heroes, lovely Mack people, Dr M of course, sweet PKN + KDa Tokyo collaborators, Luxo and a bunch of other supportive great people.
See you all soon again!

Pecha Kucha Tromsø

In one month from now, March 6, the first Pecha Kucha Night in Tromsø will take place!

Pecha Kucha has spread globally from Tokyo where it was first launched by Klein Dytham architecture as a place for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public.

The key to Pecha Kucha Night is its patented system where each presenter is allowed 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds – giving 6 minutes 40 seconds of fame before the next presenter is up. This keeps presentations concise, the interest level up, and gives more people the chance to show.

To know more about it see www.pecha-kucha.org (where you can sign up to receive news, or to do a presentation at one PKN), order the beautiful 20x20 book, or win it in today's competition at dezeen - or simply join us at Kjeller5 Thursday March 6 and find out!

A local platform for a world of creativity!

Keep updated at www.pecha-kucha.org/cities/tromso.

Said about Norway..

In today's Dagbladet Søndag international design and architecture experts tell what they think about the norwegian development in these areas in an international context. Under a picture of Torvdalshalsen Mark Isitt, formerly Forum AID, applauds the National Tourist Routes. The article overall shows an enthusiasm for norwegian architecture, mentioning also Fantastic Norway, Jensen & Skodvin, Snøhetta, 3RW, Space Group, Norway Says, Tommie Wilhelmsen and Todd Saunders.

'scape

In the November issue of 'scape magazine Tromsø is one of the case studies under the title "Melting ice puts arctic city Tromsø on the map". The article by Joren Jacobs is based on interviews with Jarle Aarbakke (rector at the Tromsø University), Jan Gunnar Winther (director of the Norwegian Polar Institute) and Knut Eirik Dahl: "If you look at the most recent statistics from the Polar Institute, but certainly also from the United Nations, you will conclude that the icy Arctic landscape that shaped and created Tromsø now disappears. The city is literally relocated."
